Human. Evidence-based. Change agent.
Music is increasingly being recognized in healthcare communities as an effective psychosocial biological, and rehabilitative intervention, impacting quality of life and enhancing the care experience.
Music care is an emerging approach that allows the therapeutic principles of music and sound inform our caring practices, in both formal health care settings and community- or home-based contexts. It is an approach to practice, rather than a scope of practice, that can be used by care providers of diverse specialties, in diverse contexts.
The goal of music care is to integrate and assimilate music into the care environment as a more primary approach to person-centered care.
Using a music care approach can be integral to developing person-centered care cultures. Through increased awareness, education, and training, care providers of all backgrounds can learn simple principles and integrate new strategies using the music care approach.
